More state troopers in French Quarter during Mardi Gras kept crime down

KPLC has gotten numerous posts on its Facebook Page, criticizing the Fat Tuesday events in Lake Charles. “It was just, you can’t describe it to people back home they have to see it. It’s really something”.

Keep in mind, organizers say, that Uber drivers can’t leave vehicles unattended, so they ask that you bring your bagged beads out to meet your driver when they arrive. They delivered the news to revelers who lined the street that Mardi Gras 2016 was officially over.

This was Weborg’s second time in New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

The celebration of Mardi Gras came to Louisiana from France, where it had been celebrated since the Middle Ages. Krewe of Proteus reportedly had 230 men and 20 floats in this parade.

After the parades, the street party generally moves to the French Quarter, where revelers pack Bourbon Street and the celebration gets a bit more risque.

Some Catholics believe modern day Mardi Gras seems to be more about the secular instead of the spiritual.

“I do think an early Mardi Gras does have a certain impact on the overall attendance”.

Riders on the floats generally wear masks and throw beads or other specially made trinkets to people along the parade route. Families often make specially designed ladders with seats attached on top for young children to sit in so they’re better positioned to catch things. We’ll also scream for beads and dance till we drop. They had selected the date based on available spots in the event calendar, and decided on the Mardi Gras theme based on the time of year.
