They can put eight points between themselves and third-place Arsenal if they win at the Emirates Stadium and Ranieri says that their new status as front-runners is something to be savoured.
“The pressure is on the other teams”.
“People mention the money, the big gap (between the cost of the Man City and City teams). It will be open on Sunday [but] Arsenal has more pressure because they have spent more money”. But at home you have to express your strengths and our strength is to have the ball. We want to continue to dream – nobody wake us up, please. “Nobody wake us up please”.
In the post-match interview, Claudio Ranieri dismissed suggestions Leicester are title favourites. Arsenal will look to dominate possession while Leicester will only care about dominating the score board.
Leicester are likely to be unchanged from their last match, little surprise as it was a commanding 3-1 victory over title rivals Manchester City. This is something special when it comes to football and going into this match I expect them to be full of confidence and pride.
Wenger also feels any similar fan protest during Sunday’s game would not affect his side – with many suggesting Liverpool’s players negatively reacted to the mass Anfield walk-out as they let a two-goal lead slip.
It’s a replay of Arsenal’s 5-2 drubbing of Leicester at King Power Stadium earlier this year, but things have changed a lot since then.
Striker Danny Welbeck has also returned to training following a long-term absence, but may have to be content with a place on the bench.
The Arsenal manager has been playing Gabriel and Laurent Koscielny as his two centre backs after opting to leave Per Mertesacker on the bench. For Leicester, Daniel Amartey could make his first start of the season, but Matty James and Jeffrey Schlupp are still inactive.
Ranieri has never beaten Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in a domestic competition, but won 2-1 at Highbury as Chelsea boss in the 2004 Champions League quarter-finals.
