Party Like It’s 1999: Denver To Celebrate Another Super Bowl

February 14 20:41 2016

Whether or not you watched the Super Bowl this past Sunday, the most popular commentary aside from the celebration by the Denver Broncos, was coverage of the Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton’s reaction to losing.

“I’ve been on record to say I’m a sore loser”.

Thank you, Peyton. Thanks to the great defense who played their hearts out; to Brock Osweiler, who filled the gap; to a quiet, gentle coach who managed a tough season; to a superb defensive coordinator; to an insightful general manager; and to the generous Bowlen family. “At the end of the day, when you invest so much time and sacrifice so much and things don’t go as planned, the emotions take over”. “It’s not a popularity contest. I am here to win football games”.

Newton is seen in the video expressing disapproval at Harris’ comments, saying “I’m outta here” before leaving his podium.

“If I offended anybody that’s cool, but I know who I am and I’m not about to conform nor bend for anybody’s expectations because yours or anybody’s expectations would never exceed mine”, Newton said.

“That is a beauty of a guy like that he wants to win and his teammates know it. That is what it is about”.

“I want players that hate to lose”, Gettleman said. I understand that. I am my own person. “I take pride in that”. Newton was sacked seven times — twice fumbling the ball, one of which was returned for a touchdown by the Broncos – and completed 18 of 41 passes for 265 yards. The Broncos won, 24-10.

“I had a lot of time to go back and play everything back”. I want the buses to be late to the airport if we’re traveling.

Newton, who was selected as the league MVP on Saturday, gave some hope to Panthers fans.
