Bush: New Hampshire race is ‘wide-open’

In the run-up to Monday’s Iowa caucuses, polling – including the almost-always-right survey conducted by Ann Selzer for the Des Moines Register and Bloomberg Politics – suggested that Trump was poised to win.

Trump accused the Cruz campaign of misleading caucus-goers by circulating a false election-night rumor implying that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was planning to drop out of the race.

“Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified“, Trump wrote.

Donald Trump tweeted in 2013, “No one remembers second place”.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who placed third among the Republicans in Iowa, said he will try to persuade some of Rand Paul’s supporters to redirect their support to him, despite the stark differences the two have on foreign policy. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the victor of the Iowa caucuses, had 22 percent and Florida Sen.

Cruz’s campaign blamed the “mistake” on CNN, saying it saw an incorrect breaking news report and forwarded the information to organizers on the ground.

The allegation comes a day-and-a-half after Trump gave a gracious concession speech following the Iowa caucus, and less than a day after he conceded he spent little campaign money there.

“A lot of people told me not to even go to Iowa and actually, I probably came in first if you think about it”, Trump said on Boston Herald Radio. “Since Iowa, no one is talking about Donald Trump“. That poll found Trump, at 34%, maintaining a large national lead over both Cruz (18 percent) and Rubio (13 percent). But those things have nothing at all to do with how many votes Trump got and likely had very little effect on the number of votes Cruz got either.

Businessman Donald Trump is the favorite among Republican voters across the nation for the 2016 presidential nomination, according to a poll released Friday. “I think it fits me better, probably suits me better”, he told the crowd.

Cruz’s campaign said later that they should have sent “around the follow-up statement from the Carson Campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race”.
