The US beauty was up for the Best Pop Solo Performance gong alongside Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding. Incidentally, Lamar is another part of the Taylor Swift posse having contributed to her Grammy-winning song Bad Blood. She already won her fair share of awards, and she also had a killer year. “Not done yet”, the Canadian singer, who is performing the song at the live show, tweeted to his fans after his win.
British sensation Adele, while not nominated this year, returns to perform on the Grammy stage for the first time since 2012.

Along with his partners on stage, Skrillex and Diplo, Bieber won Best Dance Recording for Where Are U Now? But a prize neither of them took home, despite being frequent collaborators with friends and contemporaries, was Best Pop Duo/Group Performance which was won by one of the songs of 2015, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars.
But the Grammys are as much – if not more – about performances as they are about awards.
Veteran musician Lionel Richie will be honored by artists Demi Lovato, John Legend, Luke Bryan and Meghan Trainor, while rockers The Eagles will pay tribute to late frontman Glenn Frey with singer-songwriter Jackson Browne.
Bowie and Frey died in January. The Grammys announced that Earth, Wind & Fire will receive one of its Lifetime Achievement Awards at a separate ceremony in the spring.
Broadway musical “Hamilton” became an unlikely highlight of the evening, winning the Best Musical Theatre Album category.
