Sanders had just scored a resounding victory over Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary when his camp released a new ad on the power of standing together. The ad is a mashup of brief and selectively edited Clinton and Trump comments, combined in a way to make it seem the two agree on immigration policy – including Trump’s call to build a massive wall along the border with Mexico. Sanders said the problem wasn’t confined to race but investments in poor communities were “long overdue”.

Her implication was clear: Sanders is a one-issue candidate, driven exclusively by income inequality and what he sees as a rigged financial system. “It will not surprise you to hear me say that I was deeply honored when he asked me to be secretary of state”.
