Peyton Manning mentioned in lawsuit filed against Tennessee

February 17 04:44 2016

Peyton Manning has been in the news recently, and it hasn’t been all for winning his second Super Bowl which he did last Sunday.

That light has somewhat dimmed now.

Additionally, the document says Rollo warned Naughright not to call the police and adds, “Unfortunately, the University of Tennessee didn’t want their star player embroiled in a sexual assault scandal”.

Among those examples is an alleged 1996 incident — the same one cited in the Daily Beast report – in which Manning was accused of placing his naked genitals in the face of a female trainer while she was examining him. She went on to file a lawsuit against him, but in 1997 it was settled and she was forced to leave the university. Now Peyton Manning – with past allegations resurfacing about sexual misconduct toward a University of Tennessee female athletic trainer while in college – is back on the news cycle front burner for reasons beyond whether the Denver Broncos quarterback intends to retire.

Dr. Jamie Naughright was the director of health & wellness for the men’s athletic program when, she claims, the then 19-year-old Manning exposed himself to her (and may have made contact with her face) while she was inspecting his foot, according to a long line of reports that have come out in the years since.

Manning has always denied the charges but admitted to possibly “crass” behavior, claiming he was mooning a teammate, who signed an affidavit refuting that claim. Other documents surfaced on Manning’s side that interpret a slightly different view of the 1996 incident. (Jesus.) We also learned that the attacks on Dr. Naughright took place over the course of many years.

“This is probably a good time for brands like Nationwide and Papa John’s Pizza to perhaps downplay their connection with Manning“, said Roy. “Not to disassociate their relationship with him altogether because he hasn’t been found guilty of anything”, Roy said. Polian admitted that he never spoke to Manning about the specific event when vetting the quarterback before drafting him No. 1 overall in 1998, and he seems to believe that despite an admission of a less-severe offense, despite a punishment being administered to Manning, and despite numerous settlements out of court, nothing at all happened.

The lawsuit was filed by six unidentified women and focuses on five cases that were reported between 2013 and 2015, but it also references incidents involving Tennessee student-athletes dating to 1995. Manning certainly has gone to great lengths to deny the HGH use, and his silence on the Naughright situation could be seen as simply abiding by the nondisclosure agreement. Not even for Peyton Manning. In documents filed on her behalf in the case, the player whom Manning says he was “mooning”, Malcolm Saxon, refutes Manning’s account.

Without going into all the details, the report lays out an ugly and sometimes vicious effort by Tennessee and the Manning family to cover up the incident to protect the young quarterback.

The document includes the ensuing steps the Mannings and other members of the university allegedly took to discredit her or falsify what occurred. “I think with the defense they have in Denver, you could put Brock back there and he’ll definitely win some games with them”.

This is the downside of playing the most important position in sports.
