How Taylor Swift bested West in her Grammys speech

February 18 00:13 2016

Taylor Swift fired back at Kanye West during her acceptance speech for Album of the Year at last night’s 58 Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. The internet says ‘yes’.

Taylor took a not so subtle swipe at West when she accepted the award for Album of the Year.

“And that will be the greatest feeling in the world”, she concluded, as some in the audience gave her a standing ovation.

At the February 15 Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift revealed that she and music producer Max Martin have a secret handshake, and we want to learn it!

“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why, I made that b-h famous“, goes the immortal line.

Lamar’s wins included best rap album for To Pimp A Butterfly; best rap song and rap performance for Alright; best rap/sung collaboration and best music video, which he shared with Swift for Bad Blood. Prior to Monday night, Martin has been nominated three separate times for Album of the Year since 2000: Backstreet Boy’s Millennium, Katy Perry‘s Teenage Dream and Swift’s Red. While West tweeted that the pop singer had given her approval, a representative for Swift said she had cautioned him for “misogynistic” language in the song and had not been aware of the actual lyric.

“There are people that are always going to try to undermine you and there are people that are going to be haters”, she said. “If I put myself in the shoes of the women he has hurt recently”, she wrote.

Swift’s friend, singer Camilla Cabello of Fifth Harmony, told FOX411 that the speech hit home.

Swift and Winslet are ultimately saying the same thing: That it’s not just that there aren’t as many opportunities for women, but that there aren’t enough allies-and too many people are quick to discourage women or take away from their achievements. During the days before the Grammys, fans found themselves in the middle of a debate on whether she should react or ignore Kanye West’s misogynous actions against the pop star. Swift’s representation, however, say that she was instead asked to promote the song for him on Twitter, and that she warned him to reconsider the use of the lyrics.
