Assuming that both Bangladesh and Afghanistan fulfill expectations and join the Super 10 stage of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, the Kolkata Cricket Association has said that it will house both teams along with Pakistan in the same hotel facility, allowing for tighter security around all three squads. “We’ve clarified our position in ICC meeting. We have told them that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the Government of Pakistan seeking approval to travel to India and is awaiting their response in this regard”, Sethi said while talking to a private media outfit. “This isn’t a bilateral series and personal issues have no place in an ICC event”, an ICC official was quoted as saying in a dailymail report. Our concerns are genuine. “The Prime Minister’s secretariat has said they are reviewing the situation and will let us know soon”, he added. The Kolkata police have said that a faction of a few religious political parties may be tempted to attack the teams when they assemble in India for the upcoming World T20 2016. He said now Pakistan have to decide about their participation in the event.

“It is a routine protocol that the PCB is following but all the vibes from the government quarters is that prime minister Nawaz Sharif will give clearance for the team to go to India”, the source said.

The sixth edition of the ICC World T20 is scheduled to be held in India from 8 March to 3 April.

The first set of games, between March 3 and 6 in Dharamsala and Mohali, involve teams that feature in the first round of the World T20 – Zimbabwe, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Scotland, Oman, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Australia withdrew from the January-February Junior World Cup over security fears. “There are more chances of attacks on cricketers than on swimmers and players of other games”.
