Blade Runner 2 finally has a release date

February 18 20:02 2016

Director Denis Villeneuve will take the baton from Scott, but fans can rest assured that the acclaimed filmmaker will still be involved; together with Fancher, Scott reportedly came up with the story the script is based on, and he’ll also executive produce alongside Frank Guistra, Bill Carraro, and Tim Gamble. Scott, who of course directed ALIEN and BLADE RUNNER, will be heavily involved with both of these new installments.

The Blade Runner sequel is happening, and now it even has a release date: January 12th, 2018.

Following revivals of his characters Indiana Jones and Han Solo, Harrison Ford will reprise Rick Deckard in the sequel. Filming is expected to start in July and legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins will be working on it.

That’s right folks, Harrison Ford may have been playing a phablet this whole time. Warner Bros will release the picture in North America. Day weekend, and so far, Paramount Animations’ Sherlock Gnomes is the only other movie set to open that day.

If you’ve somehow managed to not see the first film (and you should rectify that ASAP), it starred Ford as Rick Deckard, a “Blade Runner” tasked with hunting down rogue androids in a perpetually rainy, noir-tinted future lit by neon and stained with pollution.

But then again, who can say who is human or more human?

Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) are writing the film.

For a few months in 2017/2018, it’ll feel like Ridley Scott is in charge of our lives.
