Florida couple collects its share of record $1.6 billion Powerball prize

John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tennessee, have claimed their prize, but no victor has come forward for a ticket sold in Chino Hills, California.

They chose to take the lump sum because of Smith’s age, according to Heavy.

Kaltschmidt said they only told their immediate family of their winnings just last week. They frequently shop at the Publix, located at 3830 Highway A1A in Melbourne Beach, where their winning ticket was purchased.

The winning numbers from the January 13 drawing were 4-8-19-27-34 and the Powerball was 10. The winners previously had not come forward publicly to claim the prize.

Right now, Smith says they don’t have any plans for the money.

At more than $1.58 billion, it was the largest jackpot any lottery in the world has ever accrued.

The couple, who married in 1980, is originally from Long Island, N.Y.

They’re establishing a trust – called Nickel 95 – to help them spend their money. It’s one of three splitting the jackpot from the January 13th drawing.

They both expressed concern about the downsides of winning, with Smith saying it’s “scary” and that she’s been “dreading” the public acceptance today.

“We were anxious about what was going to happen”. “I even asked her point blank, because I know she goes to Publix and takes tickets”, Marylin explained.

Since realizing they won, they lost a lot of sleep, Smith said. “Obviously their lives are going to change dramatically and I wish them the best”, neighbor Bill Holmquist said.

Florida Lottery Secretary Tom Delacenserie said they should receive the entire jackpot within two days.

“I’m afraid it will make me less friendly because of all the worrying”, she said.

There were two other winning tickets in the biggest lottery jackpot in history.

The odds of winning the record jackpot were 1 in 292 million.
