A Florida teen who, not only posed as a doctor but reportedly opened his own medical practice in West Palm Beach, was arrested Tuesday. Love-Robinson posted bail on Wednesday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Sebastian Kent, a doctor whose office is on the St. Mary’s Medical Centre grounds, saw the teenager in his exam room; he introduced himself as “Dr. Robinson”. He was not charged.
The Florida Department of Health had previously investigated Love-Robinson last October and cited him with practicing medicine without a license.
A website for Love-Robinson’s medical practice says he specializes in naturopathy, a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature that avoids the use of surgery and drugs.
They say they were tipped off when they received a complaint about a person practicing medicine without a license. “I never once wrote a prescription”. In an interview with the newspaper, the teenager vowed to clear his name, and then “I will be the best M.D. the world has ever seen”.
As for his medical training, he insisted he had “shadowed many doctors” – as well as “a lot of things” he didn’t detail.
They struck up a friendship, and Wells invested $10,000 in Love-Robinson’s new alternative health clinic. “I thought something was wrong”.
Not surprisingly, the story got picked up across many major media outlets due to the freaky nature, and on Thursday morning, Love-Robinson spoke with Good Morning America about the charges against him.
“Um, I’m sorry, I’m going to have to cut this interview short”, Love-Robinson said while removing his earpiece and getting up to leave.
It’s not the first time Love-Robinson has run into trouble. In addition, William Robinson, who is the pastor of New Birth Outreach Ministries, stated his grandson was an “Up and coming pastor”.
On a website offering free ordained ministry certificates, Love-Robinson is listed as a reverend who specializes in “philosophical theology, religious epistemology and Christian apologetics”. The listing states that he is 25 years old.
“He’s not out doing drugs, he’s not out trying to rob nobody”, Robinson said. “He has good intentions”. But he took only one question and said little besides, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion”. “And when I do, you guys will know”, according to CNN affiliate WPBF.
