Ted Cruz to Donald Trump: Sue me

February 21 00:52 2016

Cruz hopes to use the court opening to paint Trump, the Republican front-runner for the nomination, as insufficiently conservative ahead of Saturday’s SC vote. A new CNN/ORC poll out Tuesday shows Trump at 38%, followed by Cruz at 22%.

Marco Rubio accused Texas Sen. Some pundits are calling South Carolina Jeb’s “last stand“. She did, however, cite the qualifications she wanted in a presidential candidate. Rubio supported a comprehensive immigration bill with a path to citizenship but he denies Cruz’s barbed characterization of it as “amnesty”.

Trump leads the GOP presidential field by about 16 points in SC, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls, with Cruz in second. In fact, when host Wolf Blitzer pressed Trump, the real estate tycoon doubled down. “He respects the military, he honors their families and at times of crisis, he will be a steady hand”, George W. Bush says over an ominous soundtrack.

Ted Cruz dared Donald Trump to sue him over a negative campaign ad on Wednesday.

Ted Cruz responded to Donald Trump’s threat to sue him over his eligibility to run for president, saying Trump would be filing a “frivolous lawsuit”. But if she does, she said, it certainly won’t be Trump.

Rubio and Cruz spent the day sparring on the campaign trail, though they didn’t appear on stage at the same time to continue the fight in person Wednesday night.

Cruz has previously rejected the accusation of lies leveled by Rubio and other opponents.

Rubio said he favors changing the accrediting model for college education, allowing people to earn alternative credits for life experience.

“He’s allowing billions of dollars to go to tyrants who hate America”, said Cruz, long a critic of Obama’s Cuba policy and himself of Cuban descent.

The senator released a scathing new video Tuesday afternoon accusing Trump of “playing games with the sanctity of life” and having been “enthusiastically pro-abortion” for most of his adult life.

But Cruz said he had nothing to do with the Facebook post.

That was another blow to Jeb Bush, just days after his brother, former president George W. Bush, met privately with Haley. Though the ex-president did not once mention Trump’s name, the implicit message was clear: Trump is not a serious candidate. “Never”, Bush said, prompting applause from the group. This is also important because SC swings heavily Republican, voting for John McCain, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, and Ronald Reagan in the past elections.

Bush’s visit coincides with a Web ad attacking Trump from an anti-Trump super PAC called Our Principles. Recent news cycles in SC have included everything from the removal of the confederate flag from the state house to Muslims being escorted out of a Trump political event. Still, the ad said he supported impeachment in the past, not that he supports it today.

Penny Merriman, a 63-year-old retired school board member from Summerville, is deciding between Rubio and Trump. “He is the single biggest liar I’ve ever come across, in politics or otherwise, and I have seen some of the best of them. So it’s just a pattern of people around his campaign that have continuously done things like that”.
