Durham Regional Police were forced to put the school in lock down Tuesday morning after 6 people were stabbed.
Bill Calder says officers were called to Dunbarton High School in Pickering, Ont.at 8:32 a.m. Tuesday.
He said six students and two staff members sustained minor injuries. Although police had confirmed earlier that only one person was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Calder stated that four victims were taken to the hospital and none of the injuries proved to be serious.
Police said the school was closed for the day as investigators were interviewing witnesses. “They are in control of the situation”.
Rhemtulla and a few other students remained in the classroom while the school was in lockdown and police combed the property for evidence.
Students described a chaotic scene as they ran from a girl holding two kitchen knives running down the hallways of the school.

Police have not released the name and age of the female student, but said charges are pending.
“Everyone was running so I started running”, he said.
Police say one girl is under arrest and they are not looking for any other suspects.
CBC reports the school administration said in a statement that classes will resume on Wednesday and commended the staff and students for their “great leadership, courage and co-operation”. “As soon as I got a chance, we bolted through the nearest door and [the assailant] kept walking”.
“We commend our students for their courage and leadership”, Tennant said.
