Puppy Recovering After Being Shot 18 Times In South Carolina

Officer say Brody, as the dog is known, was found off Springdale Road late Sunday afternoon.

He’s now at Ebenezer Animal Hospital and the veterinarian says he is recovering well.

A few minutes later, the worker went to check on the puppy and saw it was “bleeding heavily” from multiple wounds, police said.

Staff at the veterinary clinic determined that the injured puppy is a six-week-old lab mix.

No arrests have been made and investigators can’t find his owner. The report states they do not know who did it. The older of the two’s mother says her son was singled out.

Bollinger said detectives are now working on pinning down the suspect or suspects responsible for harming Brody.

Ryn Marlowe, a vet at the hospital, told Mashable that while he’s on antibiotics and pain medication, Brody is getting “lots and lots of attention”.

Hreiz said that in his eight years of practicing, Brody’s injuries are some of the worst he’s seen in an abused animal. “He said ‘mom, I promise you I did not do this'”. Hreiz told The Herald that the pellets may not need to be removed because they didn’t hit any vital organs.

“He’s really young, so he has a remarkable ability to heal at his age”.

“We want to thank the public for all of their calls with information and concern and willingness to offer a reward in this case”, Bollinger said. “Brody may be able to live a healthy normal life with all those BBs in him”.

Police in Rock Hill continue their investigation into a gruesome case of animal cruelty.

Brody will be available for adoption through Project Safe Pet (www.projectsafepet.com) and any donations for his care can be called into his account through the Good Samaritan Fund at Ebenezer Animal Hospital (803-366-1950).

Hreiz describes him as a very sweet boy who, surprisingly, still trusts people.
