Trump hit back Wednesday afternoon on Twitter, mocking Romney as someone “who totally blew an election that should have been won and whose tax returns made him look like a fool”, and mocked him for “playing tough guy”.
Donald Trump is firing back at Mitt Romney after the former Republican presidential nominee said there could be a “bombshell” revelation in Trump’s tax returns.
“Well, I think there’s something there”, Romney explained. “Either he is not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn’t been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay, or perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to the vets or the disabled like he has been telling us he’s been doing”.
“We have good reason to believe that there’s a bombshell in Donald Trump’s taxes”, Romney told Fox News, and also called on the top anti-Trump contenders Sens. We’re talking about taxes already filed-back taxes. President Obama’s reelection campaign used the issue to characterize the millionaire as untrustworthy and out of touch with the average American voter.
“People have a right to know if there’s a problem in those taxes before they decide who our nominee should be”, Romney said.
Phoning into Fox News, Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, accused the billionaire real estate showman of “dodging and weaving” on this issue before suggesting that Trump’s taxes may reveal a “bombshell”.
“We haven’t seen institutions like the Club for Growth or Americans for Prosperity, which have ample resources, going after the tax returns and other parts of Trump’s past and business”, Will said.
“We’re just mad as hell and won’t take it anymore”, he said of the electorate on Tuesday, per The Washington Post. He responded to Romney’s claims in typical Trump fashion. Forbes has estimated Trump’s net worth at $4.5 billion, a figure Trump has disputed.
Trump “likes to tell people how well he’s done”.
“We’re going to select our nominee”. Why isn’t he willing to let us look at the tax returns?
Romney noted that during his run he had released tax returns by January 2012.
“Well, because my returns are extremely complex and I’ll make a determination at the right time”. “And I’m not saying that’s the case, I have no evidence of that”.
