Bernie Sanders Keeps Widening Lead on Hillary Clinton

February 25 01:04 2016

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders pledged Tuesday to tackle long-standing racial divisions in the United States during their final joint event before Saturday’s Democratic primary in SC, where 60 percent of likely voters are African Americans. Sanders was quick to invoke President Barack Obama’s name, which has been Clinton’s tactic as of late, while Clinton returned several times to the problem of income inequality, which is Sanders’ signature issue. Bernie Sanders, has emphasized shadow banking less, but maintains that his overall platform is much tougher on Wall Street than Clinton’s.

Those smaller donations could fund Sanders’s presidential ambitions all the way to Democratic convention.

Addressing the race issue, Sanders called for reforms in the criminal justice system and promised to hike funding for historically black colleges and universities if he is elected president.

“I think we are going to pull off one of the great political upsets”, said Senator Sanders. At Tuesday night’s Town Hall at USC’s Law School, Sanders and Clinton sparred over Sanders’ request for Clinton to release speech transcripts she made to Wall Street Banks.

“We are fighting here in SC as hard as we can, but within the context, I think Secretary Clinton was in California the other day, doesn’t mean she’s writing off the state”.

Clinton has said she will release transcripts of her speeches when other candidates open the record on remarks they have given in private. “It’s not there. So I’m happy to do my best to release any of the speeches”.

“I am well aware of the drip, drip, drip. I say that from some personal experience”.

Reassuring supporters concerned about her email server controversy: “The facts are that every single time somebody has hurled these charges against me, which they have done, it has proved to be nothing”.

Clinton campaign officials say she believes some regulations can be strengthened, such as those that apply to the Financial Stability Oversight Council, which is supposed to monitor excessive risk-taking by financial institutions.

Smith/AP Voters used words like “dishonest” and “liar” to describe Hillary Clinton in a new poll.

Hillary Clinton demonstrated why she is perceived by many as the strongest candidate in either party.

The Sanders campaign would not allow staffers in the Rock Hill office to talk about the final days of the campaign. “I know there are, you know, challenges about what the State Department did or didn’t do”.
