Shooting reported at Kansas lawn mower products business

A sheriff in south-central Kansas says authorities “don’t have a lot of answers” in connection to a series of attacks that included a shooting at a business in Hesston. “There’s going to be a lot of sad people before this is all over”, Walton said.

The sheriff told reporters that authorities first received a report of a man having been shot while driving.

Two people are dead and others are reported injured after a workplace shooting Thursday at Excel Industries in Hesston, Kansas, a Harvey County dispatch supervisor told CNN. “I didn’t even buckle my seat belt I was so scared”, Donna said.

The suspect was an Excel employee, Walton said. “He was running all over the plant, chasing people”. She said that five victims were in serious condition and two were in fair condition.

Inside the parking lot a police auto had its headlights pointed at a silver pick-up truck, which was parked near a door on the northeast side of the building where the shooter reportedly entered.

Three victims remain in critical condition.

Swat officers are in the 2000 block of Wagon Wheel Drive in Newton where they have ordered whoever is inside the home to come out.

Newton Recreation Commission also went on lockdown shortly after then. He said one was shot in the shoulder and one in the leg.

LOS ANGELES, United States-At least four people were killed and up to 30 wounded Thursday when a gunman opened fire at a lawn mower factory in a small Kansas town, police said.

He said the gunman, an employee at Excel Industries, was among the dead.

Martin Espinoza told The Associated Press he heard a popping sound and then saw the shooter, who Espinoza says was a co-worker.
