It goes on sale in China on March 1 but the launch date for India is yet to be announced. The company sold over 60 million smartphones in 2014. However, other speculations suggest that the company may soon release a Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 5, Nokia Power User reported. Then came Xiaomi, who just introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5. The smartphone integrates a 5.15-inch IPS display with Full HD (1080 x 1920) resolution, 428 ppi pixel density, and 600 nits brightness, an Adreno 530 GPU, and 3 GB / 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM (depending on model). We told you about Xiaomi’s Mi 5 earlier today and now it’s time to take a closer look to its technical specifications.
As I was mentioning above, all three Xiaomi Mi 5 variants are underpinned by the same Snapdragon 820 processor. By converting the tariffs in China, we get to 280 euros for the cheapest version (a 1.8 Ghz Snapdragon and 32GB of storage), 320 euros for the one we had in the hands and 380 euros edition Exclusive with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and ceramic finish.
It’s a phone that looks rather first-class – though suspiciously like the Samsung Galaxy line – with smooth metal sides, lozenge-shaped home button, and next to no bezel at the sides. The 4-axis OIS offers better stabilization in vertical, horizontal and even rotational motion. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is also expected to feature it.
With 128 GB storage, Snapdragon 820 SoC, and 4 GB RAM, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has the likes of becoming a sales hit especially since it costs only $458.
Other specs include a 3,000 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0, USB Type-C for charging and data transfer, and of course Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and WiFi radios.
It will be arriving with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It replaces numerous icons, fonts, and menu behaviors of the operating system, but it is still usable.
In a surprisingly slick, if odd press conference-VP Hugo Barra glided through the room on one of Xiaomi’s own Ninebot mini scooters-the company pitted its new Android-based Mi 5 phone against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S. Image quality seemed pretty good, though it’s hard to say without spending more time with the phone.
