Kelly Clarkson, who won the first season of “Idol” and has gone on to be one of the program’s highest-selling alumni, served as a guest judge on the February 25 episode and also performed her song “Piece by Piece“. It’s a powerful song and Clarkson had the judging panel and audience crying along with her during the emotional, heart-wrenching performance. The performance is spell-binding and miraculously gorgeous and brought American Idol judge Keith Urban to tears. “I can’t believe it’s the last season”, she told host Ryan Seacrest.
“It’s just a touching song for me”, Clarkson said, “because I wrote it about my little girl when I was pregnant, and now I’m pregnant with my little boy”. “I don’t understand it for me, but I understand the depth of what that is-having a child-now, and he’s made me want to be that much more present in my family“.
La’Porsha Renae might be on her way to becoming the next “American Idol”. It’s about how good of a father her husband will be. And not because they were just excited to see Kelly Clarkson, though I wouldn’t blame anyone for bursting into tears when they saw her, she’s kind of awesome.
Fox’s music competition show, which is airing its final season this year after 14 seasons and industry-dominating ratings, has launched the careers of several major stars.
“What an emotional night”, Clarkson later tweeted to her 10.7 million followers.
“Piece by Piece” is about how Clarkson was abandoned by her father as a child. She cried singing the same song at a concert in Los Angeles in August, when she announced, “I’m totally pregnant“.
