Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia take 54-hole lead at Honda Classic

Acworth golfer Jason Bohn suffered a heart attack Friday while playing in the Honda Classic in Florida.

Bohn was taken to the nearby Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center where tests revealed the extent of his condition. Bohn’s wife was home in Atlanta, although her parents were with him at the hospital. “This is a tough course and tomorrow there’s always a little bit more pressure, but I have been in these spots before and I have a good pairing again with Sergio so that’s going to be a certain level of comfort”.

The defending champion Padraig Harrington recovered from playing his first two holes in three over par to card a 68 and finish one over par, with his compatriot Shane Lowry a shot behind after adding a 75 to his opening 67.

It seemed evident early that Scott was locked in, as he made five birdies in a seven-hole stretch, including four straight from No. 6 through 9, to make the turn at five under par for the day.

Northern Ireland’s McDowell is still in contention six shots off the lead but knows he will need something better than his third-round 67 to take the title.

The two-time victor on the PGA Tour had fired a two-over-par 72 Friday to make the cut for the weekend but immediately withdrew from the tournament. Second-round leader Rickie Fowler had not made a bogey through the first two rounds; he didn’t make a birdie Saturday and shot 74.

“It was looking pretty good to me”, he said. The Spaniard notched three birdies and two bogeys, which occurred when he missed a seven-foot par putt at the first and a 13-foot par putt at the sixth. “I just didn’t get anything out of it”, he said.

Whether it’s the deflation of making such a poor score on one hole, or the simple math that says you can’t give up 4 shots to the rest of the field, bouncing back from such a big number typically proves to be all but impossible.

Scott won the Masters in 2013 using a long putter but has successfully reverted to a conventional club in order to comply with the ban on anchored strokes which came into effect on 1 January.

“I think it’s important to be close to the lead in a tournament like this, because it’s such a hard golf course”, Walker said.
