‘This campaign is just beginning’: Bernie Sanders reacts to SC loss

A strong showing in SC will give her momentum as she prepares for primaries and caucuses in 11 states on March 1, Super Tuesday.

Clinton was declared the victor by nearly all major US TV networks at the end of the voting.

Despite what you hear, we don’t need to make America great again – America hasn’t stopped being great.

“Instead of building walls, we need to be tearing down barriers”, Clinton said.

Meanwhile, Clinton is returning to SC for a primary night event following a day campaigning in Alabama.

Hillary Clinton scored an overwhelming victory Saturday on the strength of almost unified support from African-American and older voters in SC, according to the NBC News Exit Poll.

CNN reported that its exit polls showed Clinton won the African American vote 84-16 percent. “I’m told 61 percent of the electorate was African American and she was able to galvanize that. How are we ever going to strengthen the bonds of family and community again?'” Clinton said. Among black primary voters, a third said it was the most important issue to them. Sanders is polling ahead of Clinton only in Vermont, his home state, and MA, which borders Vermont.

Questions about Clinton’s honesty have dogged her throughout the campaign and appeared to be a weakness in earlier contests. “And I’m torn over both”, he said.

Clinton is expected to win the bulk of the 59 delegates from SC. Clinton went into the race with support from four of the state’s six super-delegates, who can choose any candidate.

During a raucous victory rally, Clinton briefly reveled in her sweeping support from SC voters, hugging backers and posing with them for selfie photos.

That operation helped win over U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, the state’s most influential Democrat, who endorsed her last week despite a public clash with Bill Clinton eight years ago. “And if you can’t do well in that state, no matter the fervor you have, how can you claim the Democratic nomination without the Democratic coalition?”

Sanders is not scheduled to make any SC appearances on Saturday. Only among white men did she fall short of a majority.

Despite efforts to woo African-American pastors, college students and lawmakers, the Sanders camp knew it was going to lose SC. “Now it’s on to Super Tuesday”, Sanders said in the statement.

Voter turnout will also reflect on Clinton’s potential.

Up next: Texas, where Clinton enjoys a solid lead in polls, and 10 other states hold primaries on Super Tuesday this week. “This campaign is just beginning”, he said. “We won a decisive victory in New Hampshire”. Halting at first, feeling her way with the pumped-up crowd, Clinton sometimes seemed to compete with their waves of cheers and applause.

“Our grassroots political revolution is growing state by state, and we won’t stop now”, he added.

The victory confirmed Mrs. Clinton’s recovery from an uneven performance in early contests. In the two races since, he lost the Nevada caucus a week ago and now the S.C. primary.

SC might also be called an outlier in its lack of younger voters and other potential targets for Sanders.

Her husband, President Bill Clinton, was viewed by some as questioning the legitimacy of the black presidential contender – Obama.

But then she pivoted quickly to the contests to come.

It was here in 2008 that Barack Obama dealt her campaign a fatal blow with a 28-point victory and at one time the former secretary-of-state looked as if her second run for the White House might stall in a similar way. Her aura of being the party’s inevitable nominee seemed to dissipate. “That was the biggest issue in this election”, she said. “I don’t think he can win the nomination, but we need to try”. “The middle class needs a raise and we need more good jobs, jobs that pay well and can’t be outsourced”. John Edwards of North Carolina, a S.C. native.

While Sanders has the money to stay in the race deep into the spring, Clinton’s campaign sees an opportunity to build enough of a delegate lead to put the race out of reach in the coming weeks.
