Video footage posted on social media shows Adele leading the 11,000 strong audience in a chant of “come on Neil” followed by the moment the 47-year-old said “yes”.
Hello? It’s me. I was wondering if you’d like to marry me.
The meeting came after she got a phone call from Adele’s manager while she was at the hairdressers on Tuesday.
The superstar was in Belfast today for a gig when she chose to drop in on little Rebecca Gibney after mum Tracy launched a campaign previous year.
Toward the end of the clip, Adele invites an Essex woman who had already attempted a proposal earlier that day to join her. But once she got talking, boy did she really spill the beans. The singer quickly turned to Neil in the crowd saying, “You have to say a proper yes, bruv!”
She added: “I shouted at the hairdresser, “Get this off my head I need to go”, I wanted to keep it private”. After a false alarm and a grudging chorus of Happy Birthday, Adele found Hayley and Neil.
And she even offered to be pretty much the best wedding guest ever.
Patrick James, who won Voice of Ireland in 2015, tweeted: “I’ve followed Adele since MySpace and have seen her live every time she’s played Dublin, but don’t have a ticket for this weekend!”
The “All I Ask” singer looked gorgeous at the first show of her tour, rocking a custom black silk Burberry gown with floral hand-embroidered sequins, designed by Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey himself.
