“You can do polls online all day long and the outcome is nothing more than somebody’s opinion”.
Democracy is a messy affair, beginning with Tuesday’s party precinct caucuses in Colorado and other states. Because the primary calendar is spread out, it’s totally plausible that Clinton could come out to an early lead as her stronger states vote early – then watch it evaporate as pro-Sanders states turned out to the polls later.
On this “Super Tuesday“, presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio were just over the border in Minnesota. “Nothing if you are actually going to run it with all the precautions and security measures of an actual election”. Votes may be open or secret, depending on the precinct. “But being a caucus state versus a primary state, we have a lot more flexibility on how we administer our caucus”.
That’s because at the last national convention, Republican delegates voted to require all states that conduct straw polls, as Colorado has for several years, to bind its delegates to those results.
Q.: Who can attend caucuses?
However, the caucus system has ardent fans among party activists. Germans are the largest single ethnic group, as in the rest of America, followed by more than 800,000 Minnesotans who have Norwegian ancestry and around 500,000 who say they have Swedish roots.
In prior contests, Hillary won the following really meaningful primaries-or-caucuses (and number of EC votes): IA (6), NV (6), SC (9). The deadline to change parties was February 19th.
What happens at the caucus precinct meetings? .
While the pressure to select a candidate may not be as intense as at the Iowa and Nevada caucuses, the art of persuasion will be on display at the caucuses as attendees promote their candidates of choice. Those seeking delegate status also can give a short speech to convince people to vote for them.

Republicans, without a presidential contest, also expected smaller crowds than the 70,000 who caucused in 2008.
The game conflicts with the Democratic caucus, where voters have to be in place by 3 p.m., but not with the Republican caucus, which has a more flexible window between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. For a detailed list of Republican sites, visit the Teller County Republican website at www.teller-gop.org. The precincts will send a total of 150 delegates to the La Plata County Democratic Assembly.
Frank Ludwig, co-chairman of the Republican Basic Political Operating Unit for Houston County, said a set of two site captains were overseeing the same process in other locations throughout the county, including Caledonia, Houston, Hokah and Spring Grove.
Ted Cruz, who finished second, will get 13 delegates while Donald Trump takes eight. The only county races are those involving two county commissioner seats.
The remaining three delegates are party leaders who are required to support the candidate who prevails statewide.
Kansas is the fifth most influential caucus for both parties, according to a new calculator by Time Labs, which is part of Time magazine.
