Post-launch details released for Tom Clancy’s The Division

March 03 20:02 2016

With Tom Clancy’s The Division coming out soon, Ubisoft has made a decision to outline what their future plans are for the game.

A first free update for The Division will arrive in April, it is called Incursions and will introduce a new end-game activity that’s built around squad play. It sounds a bit like a survival mode in the official description which says: “Teams will be able to test their skills as they face seemingly unstoppable enemies to gain high-level weapons and equipment”. This update will also add one of the community’s most-wanted feature, loot trading; allowing players in the same group to trade loot collected during a co-op game session.

In May a second update labelled “Conflict” will add another raid set around Manhattan’s Columbus Circle, as well as new Dark Zone features.

The Division season pass isn’t yet listed separately on Steam or Uplay, but the Gold Edition on Steam, which includes the pass, is $40 more than the standard release, which matches up with Gamestop’s pricing on the console editions. Called Underground, it will “let players explore the uncharted underworld of New York City”. Players can expect to roam around subways and other tunnels while encountering powerful enemies.

Next Winter, the final expansion will arrive, in which Ubisoft says a new threat will rise that which players must defeat. Revealed at E3, players can enter the most unsafe part of the Big Apple in the Dark Zone, an abandoned quarantine district that provides a suspenseful multiplayer experience with emergent gameplay, unique encounters and legendary loot.

It’s good to see that they’re providing a mix of both free and paid updates to the game over the next year.

Ubisoft admitted that it would not be opening up the game early for reviewers, who instead will have to wait for the game’s launch, and then play the game like everyone else.

The Division is out on 8th March for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
