Colin Kaepernick wants to go to Cleveland Browns

March 12 20:00 2016

The 49ers are looking for a second-round draft pick, but the Broncos may be willing to part with a third-round pick, reports Mike Silver of the NFL Network.

His career record as a starter is 27-20 with 56 touchdown passes and 26 interceptions, although he is coming off the worst season of his career, having been benched after eight games in favor of Blaine Gabbert.

Kaepernick’s representatives requested a trade two weeks ago at the National Football League scouting combine, a key step for a divorce that gained plausibility upon his midseason benching in November. The Cleveland Browns were one of the two teams named as competition along with the Denver Broncos.

Besides, they traded for Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez on Friday and are prepared to start him in 2016 if need be. A third rounder for a guy who hasn’t grown at all as a player in four years? The Broncos and Browns are also engaged in talks for the 49ers’ quarterback, according to sources.

First of all are the 49ers, who want as big as a compensation as possible for someone they thought was going to be their franchise quarterback when he signed a six year, $114 million extension with the 49ers on June 4, 2014. However, it appears his most desired destination is the Cleveland Browns. But it won’t be easy unless he’s viewed as their long-term solution.

If neither side is willing to move, or if a team like the Browns swoops in and grabs Kaepernick, then the Broncos may try to take Fitzpatrick from the Jets.

The Broncos and Browns are reportedly the hottest pursuers of Kaepernick, and they’re at different stages of a potential trade.

Out of the three teams that have expressed interest in Kaepernick, Kaepernick has said that he wants to play for the Browns out of respect for Hue Jackson.

It is not clear how serious the Jets actually were about Kaepernick.
