Pep Guardiola Wants Barcelona Defender Marc Bartra at Manchester City

According to a report in Bild, Guardiola hopes to bring him to the Etihad to mastermind his transfer policy.

Bayern are keen to tie the deal up as soon as possible in a bid to fight off any potential interest from Guardiola when he officially takes over at City on July 1.

The latest addition to that list is Bartra, who Guardiola knows well having handed him his debut at the Nou Camp in 2010.

“I’ve still got a long-term contract, and everything is OK”.

The new contract includes an increase in the annual salary of the Austrian global player, from the current 5 million euros ($5.5 million) to more than 10 million euros ($11 million).

Later on Monday, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told dpa that Guardiola never tried to sign Alaba away from Munich.

The Mail on Sunday also claims that Manchester City will stage a double swoop for both Bonucci and Paul Pogba, offering a combined €108m (£85m), although the Frenchman alone is tagged at €100m.

Forward Franck Ribery spoke of his desire for Alaba to remain at Bayern, adding: “I think every club in the world would like to have David Alaba“.
