Windows 10 Universal apps coming to Xbox One this summer

March 16 21:00 2016

The launch will put to rest months of delays and troubles for Microsoft as it looks to complete its dream of having a billion devices running Windows 10.

Microsoft has confirmed, however, that it has released its latest version of Twitter for Windows 10.

Windows 10 mobile includes a feature called Continuum, which allows users to connect their handsets to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a desktop computer. It can adapt to different screen sizes, so a similar experience is offered to all users.

It’s important to note that the new app takes advantage of Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform (UWP).

There’s a new dark theme for desktop users that can be selected, and on the mobile side the theme will change depending on your system settings.

Furthermore, the application lets users control the visual effects (such as the fade in and fade out) when working in Windows 10, but also to customize the appearance of some graphical elements (e.g. toolbar buttons can be fully flat). Aul said in a blog post last week that the next mobile and PC builds will each add a new app for feedback from developers and insiders. According to Blass, users of select Windows Phone 8.1 devices will have the opportunity to request the update that same day. That experience is also available in this update. Information on which Windows Phones will be able to upgrade to the OS is expected to be released tomorrow, VentureBeat noted. “We found that 90% of the UI and interaction models could be shared from these devices to mobile phones, but there were places where we decided to make adjustments to optimize for each”.

The development of HERE maps will continue on non-Microsoft platforms, like Android and iOS, both of which have companion apps for cars manufactured by these German firms.
