NFL Draft 2016: Alex Collins selected by the Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks lost Brandon Mebane in free agency. But the Seahawks said they considered that a one-time mistake and were impressed with what they heard about Reed’s leadership on a national-title team.

The Seahawks are no strangers to trading down in the draft under general manager John Schneider.

It capped a decorated college career that began when he became the first running back since Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma in 2004 to start his career with three consecutive games of at least 100 rushing yards. He’s got his degree. He brings a real mentality that we love. Arizona, specifically, has been on the losing end of those matchups a couple of times of late and that could continue if the 6-foot-6, 257-pound Ohio State product pans out. But he can play guard or tackle in the pros.

He then had 57 tackles as a senior a year ago while helping Alabama rank third nationally in total defense and first in rush defense. We’ll figure it out.

The one area they don’t have depth is the offensive line. He came away impressed.

The Seattle Seahawks have been relatively quiet about their draft plans, but they do enter with more needs than usual – particularly in the trenches.

All three players before him with those elite physical talents were able to turn themselves into first-round picks, even with mixed reviews early in their National Football League careers. “At one point, Laremy Tunsil was projected as the number one pick in this draft, and teams are concerned for that video that surfaced about 10 minutes before the draft tonight that showed someone smoking”.
