In a new report, The Wrap reports that CBS head honcho Leslie Moonves is pondering the idea of shifting Supergirl from CBS to The CW next fall for its sophomore season.

The roughly $3 million per-episode price tag CBS pays to broadcast “Supergirl” – one of the highest license fees ever for a freshman show – isn’t quite justified by the ratings. A move to The CW would allow the writers to incorporate Supergirl characters into the rest of the DC TV universe through new crossovers with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
The most logical solvent for the situation is a move to The CW, where the DC universe has an impressive stronghold that, on almost every level imaginable, outshines the DC cinematic universe.
Supergirl has plenty of fans, but after the show racked up 13 million viewers for the series premiere last October, about half of those viewers has dropped throughout the rest of the season.
The current stare-down between network and studio can’t last long, since CBS is scheduled to announce next season’s lineup of shows in two weeks, during the upfronts presentations in NY. The upshot of a CW shift is that there would very likely be big budget cuts in the offing for “Supergirl“.
