After a Herculean performance by Stephen Curry in Game Four, the Golden State Warriors have the Portland Trail Blazers facing elimination, in a game that will stream live Wednesday with Portland now trailing their NBA Western Conference Semifinal series three games to one – and needing to beat the Warriors in Oakland where the defending champions lost only two games in the entire regular season.
Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson had 33 points while Curry had 29 points, 11 assists and five rebounds.
Portland didn’t come here to lie down or submit meekly; on Wednesday, the Trail Blazers continued to push the Warriors to the limit physically and mentally and in every other way.
Damian Lillard scored 28 points and CJ McCollum had 27 for the Trail Blazers.
The Warriors had an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, although Portland didn’t quit.
Curry thrilled the crowd at Oracle Arena by delivering the dagger with his fifth 3-pointer, gaining separation with a behind-the-back dribble on Portland’s Al-Farouq Aminu to give the Warriors a 121-116 lead with 24.9 seconds left.
“I think sometimes the word “valuable” or best player of the year, you can have different results”, said James, a four-time MVP.
The good news is that once again, Lillard showed this season that he’s willing to work as hard as he has to in order to get there.
Center Andrew Bogut was knocked out of this game in the first half with an abductor muscle injury.
The Warriors will play the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs for the right to go the NBA Finals. But through an 82 game schedule and two rounds of playoff competition, Portland learned a lot about who they are as a team moving forward.
Thompson’s third quarter propelled his night – and that of the Warriors – making the ultimate difference in a game where their opponent had nothing to lose but the entire season, and fought like it.
Steph Curry inspired the Golden State Warriors to a 125-121 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers to clinch the series 4-1. A dagger 3 by Curry with three minutes to go was nonchalantly smoothed off by a C.J.
After shooting close to 30 percent from the field and 15 percent from the 3-point line in the playoffs, DeMar DeRozan was great for Toronto, finishing with 34 points, shooting 11-for-22 from the field, 1-for-1 from the 3-point line and 11-for-11 from the free-throw line.
“I figured he’d find his stroke and make a few shots, but that was insane”.
Stephen Curry’s National Basketball Association 2K16 rating will be maximised on Thursday, as “real-life Curry is doing things video-game Curry couldn’t even dream of”.
“It makes me appreciate the game, because when I fell it could have been significantly worse. That’s what he does”, Stotts said. And you just have that faith and drive to have this and have that special attachment to be the first unanimous MVP Award victor – it’s definitely special.
No matter the opponent, Golden State wants to keep going on this remarkable run.
Watered down or not, they’re quickly becoming one of, if not the best, National Basketball Association teams that’s ever played.
