‘MacGyver’ reboot first trailer released

CBS has released the first trailer for their upcoming new series Training Day. Could Till’s character be the son of the original MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson)? A dynamic reimagining of the hit television series, this action-packed origin story follows the young MacGyver as he returns from war, a hero with an idealistic vision of saving the world.

I would make a reference to improvising their way out of a tough situation, but we all know that doesn’t apply to CBS, who love the comfortable familiarity of procedurals like you love food, sleep, and breathing.

In “MacGyver“, the twenty-something Mac is behind the formation of a new government organisation where he can showcase his fantastic knack for using science and critical thinking to solve any problem that comes his way.

The MacGyver first look promo is longer and plays more like a trailer, while the Training Day promo is a full on preview running nearly four minutes long. James Wan will direct the pilot (remember how CBS scored Justin Lin to direct the first episode of Scorpion?).

Much like Fox, CBS’ upcoming fall lineup is full of remakes and reboots as the network tries to draw in as big of an audience as it can.
