Draymond Green fined $25000, not suspended for groin kick

The NBA has finalized its decision regarding Draymond Green’s groin kick on Steven Adams during Game 3 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors.

Green, who was part of the NBA All-Defensive Team in 2015, presently has three flagrant foul points during the postseason. It was the second time in this series that Green had kicked Adams in the groin.

On Monday night, the National Basketball Association fined Green $25,000 and upgraded the flagrant foul called on him in the second quarter of Game 3 to a Flagrant Foul 2.

Green was called for the flagrant with 5:57 left in the second quarter, and the Oklahoma City crowd chanted, “Kick him out!”

He could still face discipline from the National Basketball Association, including a possible suspension from a pivotal Game 4, while the Warriors trail the Thunder 2-1 in the series.

Golden State’s All-Star forward will be on the floor Tuesday night, which is a huge break for the Warriors. “I don’t know how anyone could possibly say that I did that on goal, regardless of the way it may look”. This was not the first time Draymond Green inadvertently hit Adams’ as he also hit him after sidestepping in Game 2. He’s one of the great competitors that we have in the league, that we have on our team.

“I mean, it happened before, mate”, said Adams, who was kneed in the groin area while Green was shooting a transition layup during Game 2. One more will force him to miss Golden State’s next game. Being that I know that, I’m not going to be that obvious and try to kick a man down there. While you can debate whether a player should be held responsible for his own flailing limbs, and whatever reproductive organs fall victim to their thrashing, it’s certainly a real thing that happens.

After the game, Green said he plans to apologize to Adams. “I guess”, Kerr said.

“Honestly, I think it’s intentional“, Westbrook said at the podium after the game.

Said Westbrook: “That was just a dumb play on his part”. “I was just bad. If Green will be suspended, then the Warriors chance to making the series into 2-2 would be harder.

“I don’t think I’ll get suspended”, Green told reporters following the disastrous blowout loss in Oklahoma City. But it’s like, if I’m standing over the top of him, and his leg goes up, it’s going to catch me in the same place. But I know what type of competitor he is and I think I know how he would react.
