Stay Protected From The Sun’s Rays

The John Wayne Cancer Foundation formed in the eighties in honor of Wayne, who passed away from cancer.

“Once-a-day” sun cream wears off in hours and could be leaving people at risk of skin cancer, an investigation by a consumer watchdog found.

Sunscreen is mandatory for a person to protect the skin from developing sunburns and skin cancer.

Use sunscreen whenever you’re outdoors. “Slop! Slap! Wrap!” Slip on clothing to protect yourself from the sun, slop on sunscreen with SPF of 30 plus, slap on a hat- wide brimmed one to protect your ears and wrap sunglasses around your eyes. It is said that the active ingredient in the pill is polypodium leucotomos, a plant extract with antioxidant properties that can keep the skin from burning under the sun for a longer period of time. Health experts have urged people to use sunscreen while they are outside. The cheapest sunscreen which passed the test was Aldi’s Lacura Suncare Moisturising Sun Spray SPF30 (200 millilitre), which retails at pounds 2.79, or C$5.30.

Last night Cancer Research U.K. and the British Association of Dermatologists both advised against relying on any sunscreen for extended periods in the sun without regular reapplication.

The same fate about late diagnosis holds true for melanoma, which-because it’s most likely to spread-is already the deadliest type of skin cancer: According to data from the National Cancer Institute, the overall average five-year survival rate for African-Americans is only 75 percent, vs. 93 percent for Caucasians.

However Which? said it was standing by its research.

“Exposed areas will not be subject to rubbing against a T-shirt for six to eight hours, so we feel this is unrealistic as a test and believe the criticisms from Which? are not justified”.

According to the report, some of the drivers for this market include an increasing number of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers; technological advancements; new imaging diagnostics tools to better detect skin cancer; and product differentiation.

It is important to note that SPF numbers are meant to increase the length of time people can stay in the sun without being at risk of skin damage, but dermatologists still emphasize the need to reapply sunscreen after 120 minutes.

While it has always been known that sunscreens are an effective guard against sunburns, their ability to protect against melanoma has previously been unknown.

Even if the product claims to be waterproof, reapply after swimming, or every one and half hours when you don’t take dips in the water.

Sunscreen is an unfortunate necessity in the warmer months, it’s a pain to put on, it leaves a pesky oil slick on the skin, and it can be expensive. This is the case with even those who are cautions about sun protection.

“Any ultraviolet-induced tan, whether it’s from the sun or from a tanning bed, is a sign that you’ve had sun damage to your skin“, said Melissa Piliang, Patch reported.
