Michael Bisping finally achieved greatness on Saturday when he defeated Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 to win the UFC middleweight championship.
‘I’ve been in the UFC for over 10 years, ‘ Bisping told Joe Rogan after things calmed down. “And he probably felt the same about me, and it just never really stopped from there”.
Referee John McCarthy waved the bout off after 3:36 of the opening round for a stunning conclusion to a high-quality, high-excitement event.
“I think it’s very important, but it wouldn’t be an issue if he didn’t get the gold”, Justin Buchholz said. Bisping said Rockhold chose wrong. It’s just different. It’s fun and I’m not going to lie, I’m going to enjoy this one a little bit more because Bisping is Bisping.

A big right hand in the second round turned the fight in Cruz’s favor, and he used an elusive, stick-and-move style from there as he cruised to a unanimous decision.
“He’s tough, man”, said Cruz, who won his 12th straight fight. “I mean, you show your true colors after a fight, and that f– guy comes up to me like, ‘Do you know where you are?’ Like, I f– picked you up off the canvas and gave you respect (after beating him in November 2014)”.
“I was disappointed I didn’t get the finish”. “[Expletive], I probably shouldn’t have said that”.
MMA legend Dan Henderson of Temecula, produced a moment that will be long remembered.
Cruz has looked fully recovered from a devastating knee injury that kept him out of the Octagon for nearly three years, knocking out Takeya Mizugaki in just 61 seconds in a triumphant return at UFC 178 before reclaiming the Bantamweight crown with a split decision win over TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81 as a +115 underdog.
UFC president Dana White, who acts as mediator for the promotion’s high profile weigh ins, was forced to step in as tensions threatened to blow over.
“He had a flawless fight, so I can’t say anything”, Faber, 37, said, hinting at retirement afterward.
Dustin Poirier of Lafayette, La., made Bobby Green of Fontana, pay for trash talking in their lightweight main card opener.
Faber missed a right, then a jab and a hook in the fourth before an exchange when Cruz again dropped Faber with a right hand that had been mysteriously absent most of the night.
