‘Bleed for This’ Trailer Gives Miles Teller a Knockout Comeback Story

The story of real-life world champion boxer Vinny Pazienza, who returned to the ring after a auto accident that nearly killed him, is being told this fall with director Ben Younger’s Bleed for This.

Will Miles Teller box his way to a 2017 Oscar nomination? After taking home the light middleweight title in 1991, Pazienza was almost fatally injured in a vehicle accident that led to a debilitating neck injury.

The spot is embedded above and mixes an inspirational, against-all-odds story with a few laughs and plenty of Vinny Paz flash.

The trailer sets the tone for a gritty, yet inspiring movie, showing Vinny’s elaborate confidence (see: the part where he dons a leopard-print speedo for an official weigh-in) before the accident, and his determination from the confines of a full-body brace as he trains to defend his world champion title.

In 1991, Vinny Pazienza, a young boxer with a promising career ahead of him, was in a vehicle accident that broke his neck. Of course, that’s just not acceptable to Vinny, and he enlists the aid of trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart) to get himself back into shape. Bleed for This also stars Aaron Eckhart, Katey Segal, Ciarán Hinds, and Ted Levine and opens in theaters on November 23rd. “Bleed for This“, directed by Ben Younger and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, is scheduled to open for limited release November 4, with a wide release on November 23.
