The Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming remake of System Shock has reached its fundraising goal, bringing fans one step closer to reliving the classic sci-fi RPG. As per the campaign, the expected release date for the System Shock reboot/remake is December 2017.

If you’d like to get a taste of this new System Shock, a pre-alpha demo is out already actually.

Speaking of which, the System Shock remaster has been fully funded. The most expensive pledge is $10,000 or more and the backer will receive the custom branded Tri-Optimum Custom System Shock Gaming Laptop.

With the constant clamouring for a remake or a direct sequel, it was only a matter of time before someone Kickstarted a new System Shock game.

The System Shock remake demo can be downloaded through Steam, GOG.com and from the Humble Store.

To help shape and direct the existing narrative of System Shock, we’ve enlisted the help of Chris Avellone, who is best known for his work on a number of role-playing games, including; Fallout: New Vegas, Wasteland 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Planescape: Torment, and Fallout 2. It was a short experience for players who wanted to see the first 10 minutes or so of the game itself.

Re-imagined enemies, weapons, and locations by original concept artist Robb Waters. Nightdive thanked the backers in their update. However, the first stretch goal fires off at the $1,100,000 mark, and that will secure the release of Mac and Linux versions as well.
