“I have seen him fight for his family, I have seen him fight for his employees, I have seen him fight for his company, and now I am seeing him fight for our country”, she said. ThinkProgress reported that while “Ivanka Trump tried to portray her father as a champion of women” in her speech, “an examination of his platform and history indicates quite the opposite”, pointing out that he “has shown zero interest in thinking about” affordable child care and “has a reputation for demeaning women”.
Remarkably, the nominee’s elder daughter told the party faithful at the Republican National Convention that “I do not consider myself categorically Republican or Democrat”. And I think for me, the most important thing is that I know the man. So, when I hear things that are factually inaccurate, it’s sometimes hurtful.
“In retrospect, it’s amusing I was calling collect as opposed to putting a quarter in the pay phone”, she said.
Ivanka Trump: “At my father’s company, there are more female than male executives”. Eric and Ivanka have all been regular guests on national news programs and they serve as surrogates with the candidate on the trail.
She described her father as kind and compassionate, saying she remembered seeing him “tear stories out of the newspaper, about people he had never met who were facing some injustice or hardship”.
“He will focus on making quality childcare affordable and accessible for all”, she added, in comments that could have been lifted straight from the mouth of Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
Ivanka’s Instagram account is a heady mix of adorable pictures of her photogenic children, tips for working mothers and pictures of herself modeling elegant dresses from her affordable high-street range.
But she is also her father’s not-so-secret weapon, one who steps into the breach at the most crucial moments.
The 34-year-old told NBC’s “Today” on Thursday it’s an honor to introduce her father at the convention, but admitted that she’s nervous about speaking to such a large crowd. A Trump speechwriter came forward Wednesday to take the blame. She then reiterated her earlier point about the gender wage gap: “Politicians talk about wage equality, but my father has made it a practice at his company throughout his entire career”. “She has great instincts in business and in life”. Ted Cruz was essentially booed off the stage when he failed to endorse Trump.
That same family-driven model has extended to politics.
Trump’s lengthy address offered few specifics but covered the major themes of his campaign, lambasting political correctness while pledging to reshape the country’s trade agreements, build a wall along the Mexican border and restore the grandeur he says America has lost.
And while all of his grown children have had a visible presence on the campaign trail, all seem to agree that none is closer than Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner, who is now involved with almost all facets of the campaign.
“My father values talent”, said Ivanka Trump, a vice president of the family Trump Organization.
