Starbucks customers change names to “Black Lives Matter”

The Black Lives Matter protest, organized by Portland Racial Justice Congress, started around 6 p.m. with a gathering at Lincoln Park.

On Monday, Nick Cannon led a Black Lives Matter protest outside of the Republican National Convention and spoke out against both the Republican and Democratic party for failing to listen seriously to black Americans.

Shaunna Spivey-Spinner, founder of Project X, said the demonstration will attempt to show solidarity following the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and police officers killed in Dallas.

Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner said it is an important movement and she is willing to meet with protesters.

In an appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation Sunday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told black parents that they should teach their children to be respectful to police and worry more about violence in the black community.

Thousands of people are expected to attend a Black Lives Matter rally outside the State Library of Victoria at midday. “But, at a minimum, we’re going to have to be watching”.
