NFL reinstates WR Gordon on conditional basis

July 25 23:00 2016

News just broke that Josh Gordon will be reinstated this season by the NFL.

Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the NFL.

The league says Gordon can participate in preseason practices and games “once arrangements have been confirmed regarding Gordon’s clinical resources in Cleveland”. In fact, he has been permitted to remain with his team during his four-game suspension. Gordon, who was banned for a year in February for multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy, formally asked Commissioner Roger Goodell to allow him back, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

Gordon’s history with the National Football League isn’t pretty, as he was suspended for two games in 2013, 10 games in 2014, and the entire season in 2015.

In his 35 career games, Gordon has 161 receptions, 2,754 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

He emerged as one of the league’s rising young stars in 2013, when he led the NFL with 1,646 yards receiving.

“As we discussed at our (July 19) meeting, as Commissioner, I want nothing more than to see you turn your circumstances around and succeed”, Goodell wrote in a letter to Gordon. While this should be great news, I can only hope that this young man will make it through the season.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been informed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he will be eligible to play during the 2016 regular season but will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He was denied reinstatement in April after reports he failed a drug test because of a diluted samples that also tested positive for marijuana. But as you acknowledged, ultimately, your future is your responsibility.
