And with Saturday’s victories, Team U.S.A. has had another record setting summer in the pool as well, taking a total of 33 medals (beating the 2000 and 2012 records of 31), and tying the record for team gold medals, at16.
The second week of the Olympics kicked off with Michael Phelps winning gold medal No. 23, more shade thrown in the war of words and Puerto Rico won its first ever gold.

The final two individual golds of the games went to Pernille Blume of Denmark in the 50m freestyle, her country’s first swimming victory since 1948, and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri in the grueling 1,500m free.
