OH state has suspended redshirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson for what the school describes as a violation of the school’s code of conduct.
Most coaches would express disappointment in a player receiving this type of suspension on the week of the season-opener, but Miles defended his player, saying he disagrees with the suspension.
“It was not from the athletic department or football”, Meyer said during his weekly press conference on Monday.
Gibson, a redshirt freshman, is a former 4-star quarterback who was set to make the transition from QB to wide receiver after sitting out last season.
Gibson was making a case for being one of Ohio State’s outside deep threats this season.
Nuernberger is 16 for 24 in field goals over the past two seasons and converted all of his 106 extra point attempts.
Meyer said he’s dealt with similar situations in the past, but did not elaborate. “A lot of great respect for them”.
The other BG connection is Buckeyes offensive line coach Greg Studrawa, who played there from 1984-87 and was an assistant coach from 2001-06. Not only is Gibson suspended from football, he is suspended from school as well.
“Incredible. Incredible baseball player”, Meyer told Cleveland.com. I went and watched him play in spring baseball.
“He’s been thinking about it for a while”, Meyer said.
When asked about appealing the suspension, or what actions he should take, Meyer simply replied “I don’t know”.
