Jets’ Decker practices on limited basis, Marshall sits again

The bigger question surrounds Brandon Marshall, who suffered a minor knee sprain last Thursday against the Buffalo Bills.

He certainly didn’t sound like a player who was convinced he will be out there. Both Marshall and Jets coach Todd Bowles said he will be a game-time decision. “Again, I think it will come down to Sunday”. “Although every game is important, and we approach them that way, you never want to hurt the team or hurt yourself worse”. It would obviously be huge for the Chiefs if he didn’t play because he’s a great player.

“He’s always the most energetic guy in here after a game, whether it’s a loss from Week 1 or the win from Week 2”, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said. But if you have a backup playing an early game, it’s probably best to play it safe and keep Marshall on the bench. He’s also listed with a foot injury.

“It’s a knee”, Marshall said. “It’s a knee. You saw the picture [of the injury]”. There’s definitely something going on in there. Gilmore attempted to tackle Marshall and ended up pulling on the wide receiver’s face mask. He left the game briefly but was able to return and finished with six catches for 101 yards.

“If we do our jobs, we’ll be in any game”, he said. “Thought I would be fishing in my backyard in Florida”. He said he would have extensive treatment Friday afternoon and see how he responds Saturday.

“Just got to be smart”, Marshall said. “He has to make that decision because if it were up to me, I would be out there at 40, 50 percent”. The Jets initially anxious Marshall suffered a season-ending injury when his knee buckled as he was horse-collar tackled by Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore, but Marshall returned after missing a little more than a series and finished with six catches for 101 yards. “If a tackle needs to be made at the end of a game to close out games or pin offenses back in their territory or prevent them from scoring a last minute-touchdown, I want to be that guy”, he said.
