According to the latest reports from Android Police, we’ll likely see two Pixel phones (one large, one small – and Google will do away with the Nexus brand).
Both devices have also already been spotted on Geekbench and were certified.
Perhaps the most interesting bit of information people can gather from the new leak is that the Pixel XL will apparently come with an updated version of the Android Nougat operating system. The special version of Android Nougat could have in it some minor improvements.
A recent report by Android Central confirms that Google is, in fact, dropping the Nexus name for its Android smartphones, ending a series that began with Nexus One in 2009.
According to sources, it is not clear as to whether the upcoming phones are released under the Nexus brand. It will support full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas Pixel XL will come with 5.5-inch screen that will support Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Although none of the specs have been confirmed by Google yet, it is rumored that the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL will sport 4GB RAMs. There might have two variants of the phone with possibly 32GB as the base model, another variant is 64 GB. The two smartphones are said to carry the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is now considered as the go-to chip for high-end smartphones this year.
Earlier today, Google has announced an event on October 4 at San Francisco to unveil its latest smartphones. Some leaked images showed a 5.2-inch Pixel and 5.5-inch Pixel XL casing with a very wide hole for the camera. Finally the date October 4 appears alongside Google’s logo. There have been rumours that Huawei was working on a Pixel branded 7-inch tablet, although other rumours seem to contradict this and actually believe it is a 2016 Nexus. The phones are said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors.
