Have creepy clowns crept into Michiana?
Officials at the Central Islip and North Babylon school districts said Friday that such threats on social media prompted increased safety measures and calls to police. All use the word clown and some mention blowing up schools, CBS2’s Jamie Yuccas reported.
Parent Khalique Owens reacted, “Nobody knows how to defend against it because we don’t know if it’s a prank or they’ll harm people”. “Not one citizen should be or will be subjected to this act of foolishness”. A student saw a person dressed as a clown in the bushes on Mountain Avenue on Monday morning just before 7a.m.
“Were not talking about someone dressed as clown such as Bozo”, Smith wrote.
“Creepy clowns” have been in the news a great deal lately, having been spotted in towns across the country. Police are not now investigating any clowns in the area. The findings of this high stake clown investigation can be found on the Facebook page of the Rolla Police Department.
“… These social media postings concerning our school division are not credible”, the release states. As some of you may be aware there is a story circulating around the nation regarding “creepy clown sightings”. Police say the threats became very specific and identified several victims by name, as well as listed their addresses and other personal information.
And in Augusta County, sheriff’s Lt. Aaron LeVeck pointed out after two sightings there that clownish games are risky for everyone involved.
“We’re constantly trying to make it like a real carnival so it’s not just a scene”, said Jason Alpern, one of the creepy clowns at Markoff’s.
The reports of creepy clown sightings appears to have sprouted in SC late last month, and have since spread to Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and NY.
According to Rolling Stone, clown sightings have become commonplace every year before Halloween since the early 1980s, likely inspired by serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who worked as Pogo the Clown at children’s parties.
