“All the political parties have supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this hour over the national security issue”, Delhi Congress spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee told IANS.
A day later, Indian Congress leader and former home minister P Chidambaram demanded of the Modi government to give adequate proof of its much-hyped surgical strikes. Indian sources claim that around 40 terrorists and their facilitators were killed by the Indian Army commandos who crossed into Pakistan and destroyed as many as seven launch-pads of terrorists.
This recommendation came in the wake of Pakistan’s persistent claim that the September 29 predawn strikes never happened.
However, the final call to release the footage rests with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prasad also questioned whether Delhi CM has a trust in the Indian Army and if yes then, “why was he getting influenced by propaganda of Pakistan” (as he has mentioned in his video).
As the government mulled options on the issue of release of the video footage of the surgical strikes, a debate raged with BJP leader Subramanian Swamy favoring putting out an edited version of the video on the operation while most experts spoke against it.
It has been trying to convince them that the surgical strikes did not take place.
Kejriwal in a video message had asked the Modi government to counter Pakistan propaganda refuting claims of surgical strikes and had cited worldwide media reports in this regard.
While the army accepted the fact that such strikes were conducted by India, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif denied it outrightly.
“This is a clear indication that certain quarters in India are desperate to prove Indian false claim of surgical strike by “hook or by crook”, it said”. He said, promoting shared prosperity with India’s neighbours has been government’s priority but terrorism can not be the commodity exported. “Does his silence mean that he still does not trust the Indian Army?” he added. That he said Modi should expose Islamabad’s “false propaganda” became a sore point for the ruling BJP, which made a decision to infer that Kejriwal is questioning whether the strikes did take place.
