Donald Trump claims ‘credit’ for Mike Pence’s debate performance

Donald Trump wasn’t satisfied with the fact that Mike Pence used deft responses and polished lines, which, despite hitting Tim Kaine and Hillary Clinton, weren’t able to defend him.

“I understand why the other side wants to keep bringing up prior statements earlier in the campaign”, Pence said.

Rick Miller (@itsrickmiller) tweeted, “Thank you Mike Pence for reducing Trump’s repeated trashing of Mexicans to ‘that Mexican thing.’ Your words say a lot about you as well”.

“I did hold back”, said Trump. Some Clinton officials wondered if Pence cared more about November 8th or 2020.

Pence, during Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, said the USA should weigh using military force, even if it risks alienating Russian Federation, an Assad ally.

The Indiana governor said Sunday night’s town hall format will help the real estate mogul connect better with voters than he did during the first debate. “Kaine defended Hillary, and Pence would not defend Trump“.

Trump, he said, “obviously was impressed” with Pence’s performance.

“I got dinged a little bit even by my wife for like interrupting too much”, Kaine said. If you can’t defend your own running mate, how can you ask one person to vote for your running mate?

A timer on the floor of the event was set to count down from two minutes – the same amount of time the candidates are given at the town hall presidential debate on Sunday. “That was my first hire, as we would say in Las Vegas”, Trump told his supporters at an election rally in Reno, Nevada.

-On Trump’s insults: “You can’t have someone at the Trump who demeans at every opportunity”.

Kaine had to at least sell himself as being more aggressive, as being someone who could go on the attack or stand toe-to-toe with the opposition”, said Anthony Neal, Buffalo State political science professor.

Kaine’s repeated attempts to tie Pence to Donald Trump’s more controversial positions were met with a stone wall of denial and unflappability. After a lackluster performance in the first battle against Hillary Clinton on September 26, the nominee quickly added a town hall to his campaign schedule on October 6, which was only planned one day in advance and was closed to the public.
