Renton police said they haven’t received any complains as of Wednesday evening, though photos of clowns at The Landing have surfaced.

“I had a couple people come in the other day and they were specifically looking for a clown costume”. The phenomenon is not limited to the United States; there have been reports in Canada and the United Kingdom as well.

“The IT costume from Stephen king has been sold out as well as the mask but definitely more scary masks and clown costumes”, says Julio Chavez with ABC Party World.

HOISINGTON: The Hoisington Police Department said two individuals, both local residents, attempted to play a prank on some friends by dressing up as clowns.

Salina police said they’ve received reports of “creepy clown” sightings, social media threats and vandalism.

“There was a report of a suspicious incident in one of schools”, she said.

The clowns were first reported in Greenville, South Carolina, where several children told authorities that a group of clowns offered them money to follow them into the woods. But it is completely unfair to make assumptions about a grown man who enjoys wearing makeup and handing out balloons to small children, simply because of the color of his nose.

Time magazine reports that while many incidents in America were hoaxes, a handful resulted in arrests.

Clown sightings have permeated the nation, turning balloon animal-making fun into a nightmare for students.

“It is something to consider with the recent passing of the open carry laws, and you have people that tend to want to exercise that right”, Castorena said.

“Really, I hope it just a one-year thing“, he said. A flyer for the march read, “this is a peaceful way to show clowns are not psycho killers”.

School administrators and police are walking a fine line between feeding into the hysteria and trying to assuage the fears of students and parents.

District 21 School Superintendent Candy Armstrong said there is no credibility to the rumors.

It’s happening Saturday Oct. 15 on Fourth Avenue, and will start in the Maloney’s parking lot at 6:30 p.m.
