Clinton seeks support from women in suburban Philadelphia

Ayotte, locked in a tight re-election fight, announced on Twitter on Saturday morning that she would no longer be voting for Trump and would instead write in a vote for Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate.

“The comments made by Mr. Trump were disgusting and totally unacceptable under any circumstance”.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump remains the biggest wild card affecting control of the next Senate majority. She loudly criticized him for counterpunching against the Gold Star father who criticized Trump at the Democratic National Convention, and she rebuked Trump for suggesting that a judge would necessarily be biased against him by virtue of his Mexican heritage. In the House, Alabama Rep. Martha Roby said Saturday she will not vote for him.

New Hampshire is a swing state in the election.

Ryan fundraising chief Spencer Zwick, however, said he’s been fielding calls from donors who “want help putting money together to fund a new person to be the GOP nominee”. “It would be wise for him to step aside and allow Mike Pence to serve as our party’s nominee”, Nebraska Sen.

Ayotte has even taken her mistake and used it to her advantage in a new ad, which is part of the funds she received from the Senate super PAC.

Some party members who were lukewarm on Trump ran away from the nominee shortly after the comments came to light. Frank Guinta, is fully behind Trump and, despite federal charges he accepted illegal contributions – and a New Hampshire Union Leader newspaper editorial describing him as a “damned liar” – Guinta prevailed in last month’s primary, largely on the strength of Trump supporters. When it comes to Trump, Ayotte has to walk a line so thin it’s almost invisible.

“Senator Ayotte has done as good a job as one can about being separate from Trump”, said Fergus Cullen, a former Republican state chairman who is in his party’s Never Trump camp.

Within hours, Ayotte walked back her debate comments on Trump.

When you are a US senator running for re-election who has to apologize for saying your nominee for president is a role model for children, things may be going subpar for you.

Heck supported Trump prior to the audio being released but could not be reached immediately for comment.

“She’s running her own campaign now for better or for worse”, Moore said.

But thanks to one moment in a debate where she made a decision to convey her support for Trump, Ayotte is now forced to confront his existence – and the awkward role he plays in her Senate campaign, which is one of the most competitive in the nation and could decide which party controls the Senate next year.

A comparison of how Republican Senate hopefuls are faring compared to the presidential nominee in crucial battlegrounds tells much of the story. Eastern on Saturday, 17 Trump-supporting GOP officials had rescinded their support; and 19 called on him to quit the race altogether, according to our count.

In New Hampshire, Hassan was also trying to link Ayotte to Trump in television ads – even before this week’s “role model” remark.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who has been the target of remarks by Trump, represents the grit teeth and glare caucus, more or less refusing to answer questions about Trump’s statements.

They also included Sens. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and his Democratic challenger, Secretary of State Jason Kander, seems to be turning on an issue completely unrelated to Trump – incumbent Blunt’s ties to Washington, D.C. lobbyists, Gonzales said.
