Samsung Kills The Galaxy Note 7

USA carriers like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile stepped in to offer Note 7 buyers the option to replace their Note 7 phones with a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.

A commission spokesman said Monday that his agency is investigating five new incidents since the recall was announced, although it hasn’t confirmed whether they all involved phones that were distributed as replacements for devices involved in the recall. It said consumers should return their phones to the place where they purchased them.

Since 10 October, Samsung’s share price has fallen 8 percent.

Samsung issued a voluntary recall for its Galaxy Note7 devices in September after 35 cases of the device overheating or catching fire were reported. Apple’s stock has surged nearly 10% since Samsung announced its first recall of the phone in early September.

Samsung did not respond to our request today for an update on how it plans to deal with the fallout of the Galaxy Note 7 production halt. An official at the South Korean safety agency said the replacement phones may have a defect that is different from the problem with the original Note 7s.
